Brunel has partnered with Incat, a global leader in high-speed aluminium vessel construction, to recruit skilled Mechanical Fitters for their operations in Australia.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced trades professionals interested in relocating to Australia and working on world-class shipbuilding projects.

Incat Mechanical Fitters are responsible for assembling, constructing and installing parts and components for the mechanical construction of Incat vessels and undertaking engineering works in accordance with Incat’s design specifications, DNV and vessel construction requirements.

In this role, you will:

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret technical drawings and perform engineering measurements
  • Tack weld steel and aluminium
  • Calculate material quantities
  • Manufacture piping systems. Ability to form pipe work with the aid of various tooling and equipment
  • Manufacture & Install clamps, brackets and hangers to support piping systems
  • Test systems for leaks or other issues using testing equipment
  • As part of a team, install heavy industrial machinery
  • Laser alignment and mounting of machinery
  • Verifies alignment of, and clearances between, components using measuring instruments
  • Record and Report Keeping as required
  • Erect and fit machinery and equipment on-site
  • Test-assemble articles in workshops to ensure accuracy of fit
  • Produce work to a survey standard
  • Cleans and lubricates assembled articles
  • General fabrication

  • Ability to meet deadlines and deliver consistent high-quality work in a team environment

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Cert III Engineering (Mechanical Trade)
  • White Card

Desirable

  • Cert IV Engineering (Mechanical Trade)

Work Health and Safety

  • Identify and manage the hazards and safety risks associated with all assigned task and jobs
  • Report near misses/accidents
  • Support the introduction of health and safety changes in work area
  • Provide feedback to WHS team to improve workplace safety processes and procedures
  • Adhere to a zero tolerance for drugs and alcohol in the workplace
