Role Overview
The successful candidate will own the Primavera P6 schedule from optimization through execution, working closely with turnaround managers, planners, area coordinators, and site teams. This is a highly visible role in a fast-paced, complex turnaround environment (~$50MM+ spend).
Responsibilities:
- Own and manage the turnaround schedule in Primavera P6
- Proactively gather schedule updates by engaging planners, area coordinators and field teams
- Optimize, sequence, and resource-load schedules (baseline is not yet fully sequenced or resourced)
- Perform manual hard-coding and overrides where required (not solely relying on P6 auto-optimization)
- Level-load resources to ensure realistic manpower curves (avoid extreme day-to-day fluctuations)
- Update schedules during execution and clearly communicate progress, delays, and recovery options
- Support turnaround managers with accurate, actionable schedule data
- Conduct site walk-downs and engage directly with field personnel as needed
- Track progress against plan (planned vs. actual hours, ahead/behind indicators)
- Build, optimize, and maintain L4-level turnaround schedules
- Provide clear schedule status and trend reporting (simple, practical metrics preferred)
Skills and Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in scheduling / project controls
- Extensive hands-on Primavera P6 experience (no training provided)
- Proven turnaround scheduling experience (multiple turnarounds preferred)
- Experience building and managing schedules with ~15,000+ activities
- Strong resource loading and leveling capability
- Comfortable manually overriding and hard-coding schedules
- Willingness to be on site regularly and engage directly with field teams
- Strong communication skills with ability to interact effectively with trades and site personnel
- Proactive, ownership-driven mindset (no spoon-feeding)
